A poignant film set in the 1970s in the heart of old Lucknow. Centered around a middle-class family and their dreams of a better future this evocative narrative uses confined spaces and deeply relatable characters to evoke a sense of nostalgia making it a timeless piece of cinematic storytelling. At the heart of the film is an elderly domestic help who grinds dal (pulses) for various households in the neighborhood and her character embodies the struggles and quiet dignity of those who labour in the shadows. A story that attempts to stir the conscience of its audience reminding them of the fragile essence of life.
