Event Information :
Bagh-e-Sukoon: The Sacred Bodhi, Kalpvriksha and Other Tales
When the monsoon arrives in Delhi, Buddha Jayanti Park transforms. The dust settles. The trees shine a deeper green. And somewhere between the quiet rustle of leaves and the slow drip of rainwater from peepal branches, the city begins to disappear.
This isn’t just a park. Tucked away atop the Central Ridge, Buddha Jayanti Park holds stories of trees—some ancient, some quietly unfolding even today. A sacred Bodhi tree here is said to have grown from a sapling of the very tree under which Siddhartha attained enlightenment in Bodh Gaya. Walk a little further and you’ll find the Kalpavriksha, the mythical “wish-fulfilling tree”, standing tall and silent—its roots deep in the earth, its stories passed down through generations. These aren’t just trees—they’re part of a landscape that remembers.
Our Monsoon Masarrat Nature Walk through this space is not just about spotting birds or enjoying the breeze, though there will be plenty of that. It’s about tuning into what this forested land has held for centuries—a mix of Delhi’s natural, spiritual, and cultural heritage. We’ll walk past ponds rippling with rain listen for the call of koel and parakeets, and pause by the meditative Buddha statue, surrounded by the quiet hum of wet leaves and distant thunder.
As we move, we’ll share bits of the Ridge’s history, reflect on the sacredness of the trees around us, and maybe just enjoy the silence that comes so rarely in the city. This walk is for those who want to see Delhi’s monsoon not from a window—but from under the canopy of trees itself.
Bring a raincoat, walking shoes, and an open mind. The park, and its stories, are waiting.
