The Sambara Polamamba Jatara is a prominent annual festival held in Sambara village, located near Makkuva Mandal headquarters in the Parvathipuram Manyam District of Andhra Pradesh. This festival is dedicated to Sri Polamamba Ammavaru and is celebrated with great fervor, attracting devotees from various regions, including Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, and even neighboring states like OdishaTraditionally, the Jatara is observed in the second week of January, coinciding with the Sankranti festival. The festivities commence on the Tuesday preceding Sankranti, when the idol of Polamamba is ceremoniously brought to the village, symbolizing the goddess's return to her parental home for the festival. Devotional rituals and pujas are conducted throughout the week, culminating in the grand Sirimanotsavam on the following Tuesday. This event draws large crowds, with lakhs of devotees participating in the celebrations. In recognition of its cultural significance, the Andhra Pradesh government has elevated the Sambara Polamamba Jatara to a state-level event. The upcoming festival is scheduled to take place from January 27 to 29, 2025. Extensive preparations are underway to accommodate the influx of devotees, with the district administration ensuring arrangements for security, drinking water, parking, and other essential facilities.
