The Ratha Yatra Festival celebrated by Iskon in Vadodara is the festival in which parade or procession of chariots is carried out by devotees wherein devotees chant and dance on the street, pulling a chariot. Ratha Yatra is derived from two Sanskrit words, Ratha , which means chariot or carriage, and Yatra which means journey or pilgrimage. The chariot is seated by deities of Lord Jagannatha, Baladeva, and Subhadra behind them. Lord Jagannath is worshipped with his elder brother Bala-Rama and his sister Subhadra.The Rath Yatra in Vadodara is undertaken by ISKON. The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is known colloquially as the Hare Krishna movement or Hare Krishnas, is a Gaudiya Vaishnava religious organization. Its core beliefs are based on Hindu ures, particularly the Bhagavad Gita and the Bhagavata Purana. ISKCON was formed to spread the practice of Bhakti yoga, the practice of love of God in which those involved (bhaktas) dedicate their thoughts and actions towards pleasing Lord Krishna, whom they consider the Supreme Lord.
